Full research papers

Full research papers describe mature, original research contributions. Reported results should be supported by evaluation or validation, and papers should also include a justification for the choice and suitability of the validation method. In addition, evidence of use in practice and/or demonstration of scalability is valued. We also welcome survey papers that compare the characteristics of different technologies or data sets that can be exploited in current or future research. (max 16 pages)

Full research papers will accept contributions related to different dimensions of Web Engineering. We are inviting authors to submit high quality contributions describing significant, original, and unpublished results in the following topics:

  • Web application development, modeling and engineering
  • Web infrastructures and architectures
  • Execution models, such as serverless computing
  • Human computation and crowdsourcing applications
  • Web application composition and mashups
  • Social and Semantic Web applications
  • Web of Things applications
  • Big Data and data analytics
  • Security, privacy, and identity on the Web
  • Web standards

Full research papers proposals should be submitted as a single PDF file in the EasyChair system as described in the SUBMISSION INFORMATION SECTION.

Best/relevant papers related to Web Engineering will be proposed to be published in a Special Issue Enhancing the Web with Advanced Engineering in the JCR Journal of Web Engineering (JWE). Extended versions of the papers must contain significant amount of new material such as new experiments, results and related work.

Springer sponsorship. According to the contract between Springer and the International Society for Web Engineering, Spinger sponsors the ICWE'2018 Best Paper Award that will be announced during the ICWE 2018 Banquet, on Thursday June 7th.

The Journal of Web Engineering (JWE) aims to provide a forum for advancing the scientific state of knowledge in all areas of Web Engineering. Web Engineering is the scientific discipline that studies the theory and practice of constructing Web-based systems and applications. This includes theoretical principles and systematic, disciplined and quantifiable approaches towards the cost-effective development and evolution of high-quality, ubiquitously usable Web-based systems and applications. It fundamentally concerns the technology which enables the construction of Web applications. Web Engineering, while rooted in Computer Science and Engineering, draws from a diverse range of other disciplines, such as information science, information systems, management and business, among others.

Submission Information

All submitted papers must be formatted in accordance to the information for Springer LNCS authors at http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html and submitted in PDF. Accepted contributions will be included into the ICWE 2018 Springer LNCS proceedings.

Submissions and reviewing are supported by the EasyChair system.

ICWE’18 will follow the single-blind review process. Consequently, all submissions should include the names and affiliation of all authors, and this information is made visible to the reviewers. Still, the identity of the reviewers will be kept confidential from the authors.

Papers submitted to ICWE’18 must not be under review elsewhere while under consideration for ICWE’18, nor may they have been previously published elsewhere.

Submissions that do not comply with the required submission format or that fall outside the scope of the conference will be desk rejected without reviewing.

At least one author of each accepted submission must register for the conference and present the work during the corresponding session.
